8 oz. sushi-grade tuna cut into 1/4 cubes
1 avocado , sliced into 1/4 inch cubes
2 Tbs. thinly sliced scallions
1 Tbsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
1Tbsp Asian sesame oil
Black or white sesame seeds, toasted
2 tsp Wasabi paste
2 tsp diced, shredded ginger (optional)
1 shiso leave , (or cilantro )minced (optional)
Sesame or rice crackers
Flaky sea salt
Use a very sharp knife to cut the tuna into 1/4-inch dice.
Do the same to the avocado
Toast sesame seeds
Toss the tuna with the scallions, avocado , sesame seeds, shiso
Prepare a mixture of ,soy sauce, sesame oil, gonger and wasabi. Taste and adjust
Add to tuna and avocado and gently stir
if not serving immediately, store in the refrigerator and take out 1/2 hour before serving
Mound 1 Tbs. of the mixture tartare on each cracker. Alternatively serve over boston lettuce as a salad
Sprinkle each lightly with sea salt and serve.
